EUREKA - The Altoona-Midway High School volleyball team stepped out of league action Monday to face two schools with much larger enrollments that compete in the Tr-Valley League.

The results on the scoreboard were about what might be expected, as both Fredonia (3A)  and Eureka (2A) rolled to easy victories against the Lady Jet spikers. AMHS is listed in the bottom half of the enrollment charts for Class 1A-II.

Altoona-Midway opened up the triangular by falling to Eureka 25-9, 25-4. Things only got tougher when the Lady Jets went up against Fredonia, as the talented Yellowjackets waltzed to a 25-2, 25-3 victory.

Fredonia, 18-13 on the season, swept the triangular with an exciting 25-21, 25-22 victory over Eureka.

“We had some improvement playing two bigger schools,” said AMHS head coach Sharee Bertrand. “We had seven digs on the night that were shared among the team. Also, Allie Lockhart had two kills on the night.”

Altoona-Midway (0-24) was scheduled to return to Three Rivers League play on Tuesday. The Lady Jets were slated to travel to Colony for a triangular against Uniontown and host Crest High School.
