COLONY - The young Lady Jet volleyball squad from Altoona-Midway High School continues to improve as the fall season progresses. Unfortunately, sustaining enough consistency to post victories continues to be lacking.
That trend continued here Tuesday evening, as Altoona-Midway dropped a pair of matches in a Three Rivers League triangular.
In their opening match, the Lady Jets fell to the host Crest Lancers 25-6, 25-18. Uniontown also was victorious over AMHS 25-4, 25-10.
“We had some good moments, just not enough of them,” said Lady Jets head coach Sharee Bertrand. “We had bright spots at times from individuals, and as a team we came up with 14 digs. But overall we struggled with serving, and also with passing the ball tonight.”
One Lady Jet who had a good day serving was Keyleigh Clines, as she rattled off four aces during the triangular. Clines also recorded a kill and a save for AMHS.
Khiana Hicks led Altoona-Midway with four saves on the evening, and also joined Clines in the ace department with one.
Other Lady Jets recording saves were Allie Lockhart with two and Faithe Decker and Destiny Raymond with one apiece.
Altoona-Midway will next be in action Tuesday, Oct. 13, when the Lady Jets travel to Arma to square off against TRL foes St. Paul and Northeast.
Those matches will complete the regular season for AMHS. Class 1A-II regional action is scheduled to begin Oct. 19.
