BUFFALO - The Altoona-Midway High School Jets got off to fast start but were unable to maintain the momentum, falling to the Elyria-Christian School Eagles 67-20 in a Kansas Six-Man, District 1 gridiron battle Friday at Frank Kennedy Field.

The Jets got on the scoreboard first via a rushing touchdown from Zach Good, one of three TDs the nifty sophomore tallied for the Jets on the night. But the visiting Eagles were not to be denied. Elyria-Christian’s offense got rolling, piling up a 20-point lead at halftime and continuing after intermission to record the 67-20 final.

But the AMHS faithful refused to allow the setback to spoil the 2026 Fall Homecoming festivities. Prior to the game, Ada Hufford and Brooklynn Collins were both named to share the title of 2026 Altoona-Midway Homecoming Queen. Their attendants on the Queen’s Court were Lizzy Lockhart and Mika Parsons.

Despite the loss, the Jets’ sixth straight, AMHS head coach Sean Price again saw some reasons to believe his team is headed in the right direction.

“I’m really proud of our guys,” said AMHS head coach Sean Price. “We play five guys both ways and they never come off the field - so I know they gave everything they had.

“We continue to improve each week and I do believe we are close to playing the type of football we want to,” Price added. “We just have to clean up on tackles and finish our blocks.”

Good had an impressive overall game for the Jets. In addition to opening up the scoring, Good would later add another rushing touchdown and also was on the receiving end of a TD pass from quarterback Beau Clines.

For the evening, Good picked up 128 yards on 18 carries and hauled in two receptions for 73 yards. Clines finished the game 5-for-15 through the air for 111 yards. Other Jets with receiving yards were Chance Carter, two catches for 36 yards, and Chance Mustain, one grab for two yards.

“Scoring first was a huge charge of energy for us and for the most part we played well in the first half, keeping the score close,” Price said. “We had a questionable call go against us right before half that really hurt us … but the kids stayed focused and fought through.

“Zach Good had a very nice game on offense for us, scoring three times,” Price continued. “Chance Carter was a monster on defense and Chance Mustain made some great hits on defense.”

Carter finished with a dozen tackles, including a whopping 10 solo stops. Mustain and Broghan Douglas each recorded three solo tackles, while Good, Clines and Hunter Reaves were each in on a trio of stops. Karter Letterman added two tackles and Mustain also had a pass deflection.

Elyria-Christian School has now rattled off three consecutive wins to even its season mark at 3-3.

Altoona-Midway (0-6) will close out regular-season play Friday, Oct. 16, traveling to LeRoy to square off against Southern Coffey County in a battle of winless teams. The Titans (0-6)are coming off a 53-0 drubbing at the hands of Otis-Bison.

Kickoff in the 6-Man, District 1 matchup is slated for 7 p.m. at SCC’s field.
