The horticulture class is making great use of the beautiful weather, getting several vegetables and herbs into the ground!
There has been a venue change for Helen Friederich's funeral service on Friday, April 29th. It will now be held at The Good News Center in Chanute, located at 118 N. Forest, directly behind the First Baptist Church.
SCHOOL CANCELLATION NOTICE
Due to the funeral services of Helen Friederich this Friday, April 29, school WILL NOT be in session on this day. This will allow her colleagues and students the opportunity to attend her services. Services begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Countryside Funeral Home in Chanute.
There is a lot of learning and cooking happening in the Family and Consumer Science classroom!
Congratulations to Shelbi Bryant! She has qualified to compete at the National FCCLA Leadership Conference in San Diego, California and will be attending from June 29 to July 4. Good luck Shelbi!
The HS baseball game is at Northeast tomorrow, not today. 4:30 start time. Sorry for the inconvenience.

It is with great sadness to share that one of our teachers, Helen Friederich, unexpectedly passed away over the weekend. Our deepest condolences goes out to Helen’s family and our school community. There will be counselors available Monday if any students would like to speak with someone. Funeral arrangements are pending.
Please join us for Grand March on Saturday, April 23rd @ 6:00pm. All Grand March festivities are being held outside. Only prom participants, their guests, and chaperones are allowed inside the building. Thank you for your understanding!
***In the event of inclement weather, patrons will be allowed inside the building and prom participants will walk down both hallways. Please stay on one side of the hallway so there is room for them to walk. A spot for photos will be in the entryway! We ask that spectators stay out of the Gym and Cafeteria.***

The kindergarten class had a fun time experimenting and learning at Curious Minds in Parsons. Of course all that learning called for a special sweet treat afterward!
Curious Minds from Parsons came to Altoona-Midway and presented "Tinker-Lab". Students and parents were able to explore, discover, and learn while adventuring around eleven fun engineering experimental stations. Fun was had by all as they navigated the: wind tunnel parachute, craft stick catapult, circuit boards, spinners, Keva Planks, the Ozobot challenge, hydraulic activity, Geoboards, paper chain challenge, pulleys in motion, and Skilltastic game. Ten gift certificates to Curious Minds, were also given out as prizes. What a great night!
Mrs. Walker recognized Conor Wilson as her "Wow of the Week" and got to call his parents to tell them the good news! Conor has been making green choices this week. He has been polite and helpful in class. Even when it’s hard, Conor has been choosing to do what’s right. Good job Conor!
