
Reminder: HS boys sub-state basketball this evening at home beginning at 7:00 PM. As per KSHSAA, No passes will be accepted. $7.00 for adults & $5.00 for students. The game will be live streamed on our Facebook page.

The 7th grade life science class joined efforts to create a large model of DNA using K'nex. (Photo 1)
In Environmental Science, Blaine and Lane learned about animal populations by simulating a predator and prey scenario. (Photo 2)
Eighth grade boys worked together in science class and won the "Escape Room Digital Breakout" game by correctly answering questions about a Topographic Map and solving digital puzzles. (Photo 3)

AMES Family Reading Night that was scheduled for February 24 has been postponed until Thursday March 3, 5:30 PM-7:00 PM.

Freshman Class Fund Raiser:
Each year, the Kansas Masonic Foundation sponsors a raffle for a classic car with 75% of proceeds supporting local communities. The classic car this year is a beautiful 1963 Ford Thunderbird.
The Freshman class at Altoona-Midway is using this a a fundraiser. The money raised will go to help fund Jr./Sr. Prom and Sr. class trip. If you would like to buy a $20.00 ticket, or have questions, please contact Freshman Class President, Autumn Raymond at araymond@usd387.org
The fundraiser will end March 5, 2022.

Family Literacy Night


Eighth grade Science students recently visited Mrs. Friederich's 4th grade classroom to teach the younger students about erosion. Each 8th grade group gave a short presentation about erosion and then shared an erosion-control prototype that they developed in class. Fourth graders were allowed to get a close-up look at the prototype and to ask questions!




Tomorrow's Forensics tournament WILL GO ON as scheduled. Morning judges, please be at the ms/high school by 7:30 AM. Finals judges, please be here at 12:00 PM. There will be a hospitality room for judges.

SCHOOL CANCELED THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 2022
Due to the approaching winter storm school will not be in session on Thursday, February 17, 2022.
In anticipation of the forecast of several inches of snow & ice along with dangerous wind chill factors there will be no school or any school activities on Thursday.
Student and staff safety are our primary concern during these times. We encourage everyone to stay inside and limit any travel to only what is essential.
The Staff In-Service for Friday is still scheduled. Please monitor this website for information concerning that activity.
All school activities for Thursday are cancelled.


The Fredonia Arts Council recently held an art competition called Celebrate Every Moment. The judges were looking for originality and creativity in the artwork. Our first place winners were: Joshua Wilson, Teryn Ellsworth, Makayla Mustain, Aryia Thompson, Kenzie Nalley, Bella Jones, and Hadlee Pupanek. Second place winners were: Carter Beck, Emma Kinzle, Ainsley Wheeler, Bryn Wilson, Sophie Schaffer, Dionna Anderson, and Sandra Morales. Our third place winners were: Kira Adams, Chloe Kuhn, Emily Lockhart, Bristol Collins, Mikayla Parsons, Caleb Kuhn, and Bella Davis. Lakyn Faller, Michael Thompson, Adison Kinder, and Sophia Boyd also received Honorable Mention. Congratulations to these outstanding artists!


USD #387 is looking to hire a HS baseball driver/coach. A-M is co-oping with Yates Center. Practices will be held in Yates Center. The candidate will drive a school van to Yates Center everyday for practices and games. If interested, please contact Jeff Almond at jalmond@usd387.org
